The Harrodsburg Hospital Ledger

The hospital ledger attributed to Dr. Robert Wilson Thrift contains the names of several hundred wounded men from the Battle of Perryville and the associated skirmishes that occurred in Kentucky during the fall of 1862

The Battle of Perryville created a vast number of wounded men. Nearly 7,600 dead and wounded were crammed into every structure standing around the battlefield. The town of Harrodsburg was inundated with casualties from the battle. This ledger gives the name, regimental information and state of each Confederate and Union wounded soldier listed. The ledger also denotes who among these men perished in that hospital.  Click here to view Part 1

This is an incredible primary resource document. There are numerous mysteries associated with the ledger. Although the ledger is attributed to Dr. Thrift, we cannot be sure without further research. We simply aren’t sure where this hospital was located at in Harrodsburg or what happened to the men listed within the ledger?
